Glycerine

General information

Glycerine is a trivalent sugar alcohol that is present in all natural fats and plays a central role as an intermediate in various metabolic processes.

It can be obtained petrochemically, chemically and biotechnologically.

Our glycerine is a by-product of biodiesel production from vegetable oils, mainly from the agricultural cultivation of rapeseed and sunflower. Final production steps such as glycerol rectification at 160°C in high vacuum and regulation of colour and odour with activated carbon guarantee a high purity product suitable for food and pharmaceutical purposes.

Properties & advantages

Glycerine is a colourless, odourless, slightly viscous and hygroscopic liquid with a sweetish taste at room temperature.

Glycerine is used in food and beverages mainly because of its water-binding properties as a moisturizer but also as a sweetener. It is also used as animal feed.
